Dutch Chess enthusiast Kees Hoogendijk runs a children's educational project in Ghana, necessitating that he resides in the country for about 3 months each year.
Having found and joined a group of fellow Chess enthusiasts he encouraged the National Chess Federation to resume international participation.
And so it came about that Kees finished second in some tournaments, including the National Championship, where Johnny Walker was on tap from 10:00 am and was duly selected to represent Ghana.
