General information and Basic requirements

 

Circular 1 dated August 2008

 

1. The Tournament This is a team Tournament and will be held in one Open Swiss section.  Each team consists of four (4) members and may in addition field no more than one (1) reserve. 
2. Qualifications All CHESSA clubs are eligible to enter any number of teams of four players each.  No team may have more than one reserve.  All team members and reserves must be CHESSA registered players.  Points equal to the points scored by unregistered players will be deducted from the team in which such unregistered players participate.  Proof of registration may be requested upon registration. 
3. Entry Fee The Entry fee is R300 per team and is payable before the first round commences. 
4. Deadlines Entries on the prescribed form (that is included) must reach the organizer by 1 November 2008.  Communication and other details of information that is required from the clubs appear on the entry form.  Clubs must supply all details requested on the entry form please. Entries can be e-mailed or posted to Po. Box 1841, Cape Town, 8000.

6.  Acommodation

Contact the organisers  - Accommodation is available at various guest houses around Cape Town.

7. Programme
All rounds will start as scheduled and the player's clocks will be started immediately after the round has started.

8.  Rate of Play All Rounds (1 to 7)  60 Minutes per player per round.  (60:60). 
9.  Equipment Teams must supply their own chess clocks.  Players having the white pieces in any round must provide clocks for that round.  Chess clocks must be in good working order.  The organizers will supply the boards and sets needed.
